Artist's Comments

A headstone in the local cemetery (Violett Cemetery), the view and the inscription were so pretty I thought I'd share. It says:
Mamie beloved wife of Jack
1879-1912
Warm summer sun
Shine kindly here
Warm southern wind
Blow softly here
Green sod above
Lie light lie light
Good night dear heart
Good night good night

You can almost feel Jack's grief in those words. I didn't find his headstone anywhere nearby, so I assume he was buried in a different graveyard, perhaps near children or parents.
There is no last name or any other information on Mamie, but I love the testament to their love.

If you look in the background, you can see the Elkhart River as it winds around the cemetery, which is in in a wooded area. It's one of my favorite places in town, it's so very peaceful and full of little critters like squirrels, turtles and even the occasional deer.

Thank you so much, the headstone itself made me cry! People must have thought I was some kind of looney toon, weeping beside a headstone of a person I never even met while taking random pictures around the cemetery...but then again people probably think I'm crazy when I suddenly yank my car off the road to snap a picture of some random sight on the roadside, lol!

lol i do that exact same thing. it is a very touching headstone and whoever is buried there was loved, so much that i believe love that like goes on forever.

Cimetery are always a nice place to take picture and you did a great job on that one, me think :)
