A headstone in the local cemetery (Violett Cemetery), the view and the inscription were so pretty I thought I'd share. It says:
Mamie beloved wife of Jack 1879-1912 Warm summer sun Shine kindly here Warm southern wind Blow softly here Green sod above Lie light lie light Good night dear heart Good night good night You can almost feel Jack's grief in those words. I didn't find his headstone anywhere nearby, so I assume he was buried in a different graveyard, perhaps near children or parents. There is no last name or any other information on Mamie, but I love the testament to their love. If you look in the background, you can see the Elkhart River as it winds around the cemetery, which is in in a wooded area. It's one of my favorite places in town, it's so very peaceful and full of little critters like squirrels, turtles and even the occasional deer. I am the owner of this artwork. Please do not use or alter it in any way shape or form without my express permission. To do so is considered stealing and is illegal. This includes using the piece for stock art in your own artwork, as an avatar on this or any other site, or posting the picture elsewhere and claiming it as your own. |
